Ukrainian Varenyky

Varenyky are popular Ukrainian dumplings filled with a variety of ingredients such as vegetables, meat, cheese, sauerkraut, eggs, mushrooms, and even fruit. These stuffed dumplings are usually shaped into squares or half-moons, boiled or steamed, then drizzled with oil or melted butter and paired with sour cream.

The main difference between Varenyky and Pelmenis is more complex preparation process of Varenyky: we have to prepare another choux dough and another more complex filling, like specially cooked boiled meat or other vegetarian filling. But the great taste of Varenyky with a sour-cream worth these extra efforts.

Varenyky classic

Pork neck, onions, salt, pepper, flour, sunflower oil, egg, water

Varenyky with potatoes and bacon (Served with fried onion)

Ingredients:

Potatoes, bacon, fried onion, flour, sunflower oil, egg, water
